Summary:
The primary purpose of a collector is to assist Oklahoma Educators Credit Union in the collection of payments and resolution on delinquent loans.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to:
Delivers professional service to every internal and external member contact.
Collects on loan portfolio as assigned.
Coordinates the collection process between the member and credit union, with the interests of both parties in mind at all times.
Makes daily contact to cure delinquent accounts, records promises on account and schedules follow-up contact.
Notifies co-signers of delinquent accounts according to due dates.
Skip-traces accounts according to established practices.
Researches disputed delinquent account balances; corrects any errors, including misapplied payments, reversed late charges, direct deposit errors, and overpayments from insurance errors.
Promotes and cross-sells additional products and services at every opportunity.
Maintains knowledge of credit union products and services.
Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Consistent attendance for hours scheduled to work.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Bi-lingual preferred.
EDUCATION AND
Experience:
High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED) plus three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Language Skills:
ability to read and interpret documents such as credit bureau reports, debt to income ratios, policy and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to speak effectively with borrowers and staff.
Mathematical Skills:
ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, compute rate, ratio, and percent, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Reasoning Ability:
ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where a considerable amount of standardization exists.
Computer Skills:
ability to operate a PC and typical business-oriented programs, including, but not limited to:
Internet Explorer, email, Word documents, and spreadsheets.
Ability to operate other general office machines and equipment such as copier, postage meter and printers.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
